Montana High School Rodeo Association

Welcome

The Montana High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) is one of the 41 states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Australia that is involved in the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA)

Founded in 1947 by Claude Mullins, there are currently 12,500 students in the NHSRA competing in over 1,100 sanctioned rodeos every year. MHSRA members compete at the state level for local recognition and the top four contestants in each event then qualify to compete in the National High School Finals Rodeo held in July. At the NHSFR over 1,500 contestants compete for national titles, awards and scholarships. By being a student member of the MHSRA, contestants also have an opportunity to be awarded college scholarships and scholarship assistance for continuing their educational careers. The NHSRA is an independent student athletic association that relies on the financial assistance of sponsors. For more information about the MHSRA, follow the links on the left and contact any of the directors or secretary.

NEEDED: 6 MHSRA members to help with cleaning approximately 25 stalls at the League of Legends Horse Sale in Livingston the evening of September 8th and the morning of the 9th. It's estimated for this to take about an hour to complete. For any of those that will be entered in the Whitehall rodeo that weekend, Jay Wagner is willing to drive them over and back both days. Jay would like to be on - site in Livingston between 5-6 PM on Friday and 6-7 AM on Saturday to be back to Whitehall by 10 AM. The Producer of the sale has graciously agreed to give 50% of the proceed from a selected horse that is being sold in the sale in trade for some help with the sale from MHSRA members. The 1st 6 members to contact Jay Wagner and sign up and volunteer to help both Friday night and Saturday morning will receive a $25.00 gas card for which the board of directors voted on to help with some of the fuel cost involved to help with the sale.  Please contact Jay at 406-490-9104 to sign up. Thank you.

ATTENTION MEMBERSHIP:  At the Lewistown Board meeting on Aug. 20th, the Board of Directors voted that the point system will remain as it has been, with the understanding that a different point system needs to be decided upon for the 2018-2019 season in order to be in compliance with the NHSRA Rule Book.  A committee of 1 State Director from every district, along with Jay Wagner, National Director, has been formed to come up with a proposal. If anyone has any ideas, please submit a written and signed proposal to your State Directors for them to consider.
